Consumer Privacy Policy

    At The F&M Bank & Trust Company, the basis of each customer relationship is trust. We consider it our privilege to serve your financial needs and we value the trust you have placed in us. We believe that customer privacy should not be compromised and are committed to safeguarding customer information responsibly. We do not sell or otherwise share any customer or former customer information to nonaffiliated third parties except as permitted by law for joint marketing, processing or servicing.

    We want you to understand what information we may gather and how we may share it. This Privacy Policy explains our collection, use, retention, and security of information about you.

    How We Gather Information

    As part of providing you with financial products or services, we may obtain information about you from the following sources:

    -Applications, forms and other information that you provide to us, whether in writing, in person, by telephone, electronically or by any other means;

    -Information about your transactions and account experience with us, our affiliates, or others;

    -Information we receive from consumer reporting agencies; and

    -Information from outside sources regarding your employment, credit or other relationship with you or verifying representations made by you, such as your employment history, loan or credit card balances or your property insurance coverage.

    We do not disclose nonpublic personal information about you to nonaffiliated third parties except as permitted by the law.

    We may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to:

    -Financial services providers who work for us or provide services to help us administer your financial relationship. These providers may include payment processing companies, data processing companies, check and loan coupon printing companies, statement printing companies and mailing service companies.

    -Companies that perform marketing services on our behalf.

    -Companies that work with us under joint marketing agreements to provide you with financial services that we do not offer ourselves but we believe may be of interest to you.

    These companies are legally obligated to maintain the confidentiality of the information we provide to them and are restricted from using this information for any reason beyond the performance of specified services on our behalf.

    We may also disclose nonpublic personal information about you to other parties as permitted or required by applicable law.     -Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency, such as your creditworthiness and credit history.

    We restrict access to those employees and service providers who need to know your nonpublic personal information in order to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.

    Sharing Information within the F&M Bank Corporate Family

    We may disclose the following information to our mortgage company, investment advisory company, insurance company and other business entities controlled by us:

    -Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your name, address, social security number, assets, income; and

    -Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency such as a credit report.
